Minister Mischo announces the launch of working groups to define a national strategy for the social economy and social innovation at the recent “Social Innovation Lab”

Held at the House of Startups on June 18th, the Social Innovation Lab proved once again that Luxembourg is steadily progressing in social innovation by aligning profitability with social responsibility.

Around 80 participants attended the event that was organized in close collaboration between the Social Business Incubator, the House of Startups, and the House of Sustainability.

Participants delved together into the future of business where economic success and social impact are intertwined.

Visionary entrepreneurs are essential for driving social innovation and reimagining prosperity. During the afternoon Lab, participants explored key pressing challenges for businesses such as talent attraction and retention, the circular economy, and the rise of artificial intelligence, aligning them with their strategies.

Building on the success of the Social Business Incubator’s first event in 2023, this session aimed to co-create development paths with engaged stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, policymakers, thought leaders, and students.

Later, Minister Mischo opened the networking evening, sharing his vision for social innovation in Luxembourg and announcing the formation of working groups to develop a national strategy for the social economy and social innovation.

François Bonnici, Director of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, congratulated Luxembourg’s government for its support of social innovation, both nationally and internationally, via a video message.

The evening panel, moderated by Vanessa Schummer, Head of the Social and Solidarity Economy Department at the Ministry of Labour, and Sabrina Kohn, Sustainability & Business Development Advisor, featured speakers from four established companies.

These included Katrin Redmann, COO of SAP Labs Paris; Talke Schaffrannek, Director of Circular Economy at BASF; César González Fernández, Founder of Clean Something For Nothing; and Alyssa Jade McDonald-Baertl, Social Entrepreneur and Founder of BLYSS GmbH.

They shared their hands-on experiences with the audience, demonstrating how social innovation strategies drive both economic and societal benefits.

The Social Innovation lab perfectly illustrated that merging profit with purpose is not just a trend but the future of sustainable business, with Luxembourg at the forefront.
